Hot Tub Filters
Your hot tub filter is one of its most important parts of you hot tub system It provides means of removing debris, grease, suspended particles and bacteria from the water. Your filter will need cleaning regularly to ensure that it works efficiently. Hot tub filters do not have any moving parts or and do not have a defined end of life. The filtration media will ‘clog up’ and degrade over time. Body oils, sun protection lotion, soap and chemical all contribute to the life of the filter. By showering before you enter the hot tub and coving the hot tub when not in use will help to extend the life of the filter.
If you observe a reduction in water flow, deterioration in water quality or see any physical damage then your hot tub filters will need changing. Even if your filter is working efficiently, after a 12 month period, its probably time to change it. You can purchase filter cleaners such as Pure 'n Clean the are more gentle on the filter media than general house hold cleaners.
It is imperative that you purchase the correct filter for your system. A badly fitting filter will not work efficiently and will have a reduced life. Be sure to check your filter regularly. Check for physical damage, clogging, discoloration and presence of bacteria of fungus. Your filter will need to be cleaned but be careful not to use too hard a brush as you could be causing even more damage. By proper cleaning chemicals, don’t use bleach or abrasive cleaning products.
It is recommended that you have two hot tub filters. This allows one filter to be cleaned and dried properly while the other is in use.
